High-Risk Pregnancy

Adenomyosis

I was diagnosed with this a few months ago. The dr's told me I had a less then 15%chance of conceiving and suggested a partial hysterectomy. I had one scheduled for next month but found out I was pregnant a few weeks ago. I am now 6 weeks and 3 days. I have tried to call my ob to ask questions about adenomyosis affecting pregnancy but they just tell me they will discuss it at my first appointment which isnt till oct 10th. I wanted to be excited about this pregnancy but i am scared right now. Anyone on here have this condition?

Re: Adenomyosis

  • I know I'm replying to this a while after you posted, but I just came across it (this is my second pregnancy and I just don't feel the need the way I did during my first). In any case, I also have adenomyosis. Mine has never been terribly symptomatic (I've always had heavy and crampy periods, but that has been forever what I'm used to so I never really knew anything different - but that's about it), and we discovered it by accident after I was given an MRI of my pelvis for another reason this past summer. That was right around the time we were starting to TTC #2. I should also mention I am 40. In any case, in my situation, I conceived three times within 8 months (not too shabby), but two of them were chemical pregnancies that ended before 5 weeks (total bummer). The third one stuck. Because time was passing, and because of my age, and the chemicals, I consulted with an RE just to make sure everything was okay. The RE did a few blood tests and one of those HSG tests. Both my RE and my OB told me there was nothing to worry about with re: to both conception and carrying a baby to term, so we kept on trying and voila. I have intermittent worries that they are wrong based on the hysteria I see online re: adenomyosis and pregnancy, but they repeatedly reassured me that there is no real risk  with pregnancy. Currently, I am at 23 weeks and the pregnancy is going along just fine so far (knock on wood). Everyone is different, but that's my story. Hopefully it gives you a little hope.

  • Thank you. Mine to was found by accident also on an mri. I am 9 weeks 3 days and had an ultrasound today and the baby looks perfect. Well as perfect as it can look at 9 weeks :) I to have read the online stuff and have decided to stop because it does nothing but drive me nuts. Thanks for your story it is reassuring and good luck :)
  • New to this page but I have the same diagnosis. I was scheduled for a hyst this summer but found out I was pregnant. I am now 34 weeks and due to other complications on restricted activity. The adenomyosis has not affected pregnancy.
