Hyland Teething Tablets

Can babies become addicted to these???  My 20 month old is starting to ASK for them before bed.  I'm not sure if she's actually hurting (she is definitely teething because I can tell the molars are still only partially out) or if she is just used to getting them?  At this point, I'm only giving her one at night.

Re: Hyland Teething Tablets

  • I don't think they are addicted, they just like doing certain things if that makes sense, maybe it's just a repetitive thing she's gotten used to and now expects it.  When I give K Motrin he gets excited when he sees the syringe.  My 5 year old niece always asks for medicine because something is "wrong".  I think it's just a kid thing.

Those teething tablets don't even taste good, have you tried them?  If she associated them with making her feel better than I could see why she'd ask.

  • I don't know that they could be addictive. They seem to give DD pretty quick relief, so maybe your LO has just figured out that they help her feel better.

  • DS doesn't ask for them, but he does get VERY excited when we pull them out (and he doesn't even get them on a weekly basis anymore, since he's only got his 2 year molars left).

  • My lil guy will ask for them when he wants them..he's teething too.  If we think he needs them and he doens't agree he wont let you get them in his mouth, however if he thinks he needs them he is wide open and waiting and will even take them from your hand and take them himself.

I'd be more worried if you werent using something homeopathic..but My lil guy hasn't had any adverse reactions to HTT's
