I made a pattern by using another set of PJs that currently fit her, and tweaking it to fit her better. If you don't have any, you could just have your kid lay down (or use a shirt and pant set since I'm assuming he's pretty wiggly and won't lay still ) and trace an outline. I use a piece of fabric that is a sideways oval with two points on the ends attached to the bottom between the legs to allow for ON fluff.

Thanks, ITK! I picked up a Simplicity pattern that I will probably tweak to put more room in the butt. I was hoping not to have to use my brain but I will probably have to, haha.
@unaveragejane I will let you know. If they turn out well, I will teach you the ways, haha. I'm planning on lining them, too. DS's room gets so cold in the winter and I feel like all the PJs in the stores are so light, even the fleece ones.
