Amazon universal registry

Has anyone used Amazon's universal registry?

I have a sizable Amazon registry.  I'd like to add some diaper covers which are not available on amazon (Assuntas).  I tried to use the universal registry, but when I went back to my registry, it just came up as "give me a gift card to this place" instead of linking to the actual diaper covers.  So I took it off (I don't want to ask for gift cards).

Is this just how Amazon universal registry works, or am I missing how to add an actual product?

hmm - that's what I did.  Must not work with all websites

Ohh well, I'll just buy them on my own :-p
