Okay, Staining on BG 4.0 Shells

I know, sun them to get the stains out.

BUT... it's getting so dang cold where I am right now that when I tried to sun my shells, not only did they not dry, but we didn't even get enough sun to brighten them again! I would like to try and stay ahead of the staining before it becomes permanent.

Also, I'm starting to notice some lingering funky smells on the shells themselves.  Will bleach break down the PUL on the shells? What do you suggest?

Re: Okay, Staining on BG 4.0 Shells

  • Cottonbabies actually say to bleach once a month. I put 1/4 cup into my hot wash. Helps a bunch.

  • I was having these issues when my son was switched to a different formula. MY BG 4.0 fleece NEVER stained until we switched the formulas. I had major issues with staining and stink until I finally accepted using disposable liners- nothing else was taking care of the stink issues.

  • @Nana, I do bleach my inserts, but I've never done the shells because I didn't want to damage the PUL. Does anyone know if that is safe?

  • It's safe. BG actually says to bleach them. It's so little of an amount, it won't hurt anything.
