Hello, my DD is 3 months this week and I started work back up today. I'm lucky to be able to work from home and we hired a nanny to help out with the baby and other things during the day. I am wondering how everyone feels sending their child to daycare or having a nanny or relative take care of your child instead of you? I am having all of these crazy emotions today about it. On the one hand it frees me up to do work to support my family and gives me a break from 24/7 babyland (especially since DD was super colicky) but on the other hand I am feeling sad to not to be the one spending time with her during the day, comforting, her, etc. I know it's necessary but was hoping to commiserate.. feelings, thoughts, perspectives?

From my experience, it gets easier as they get older. I went back to work when my daughter was 6 months and for me it was very difficult until she was about 18 months. After that, I stopped minding/feeling resentful about having to work, and just really enjoyed our evenings and weekends together. I'll go back when my ds is 4-6 months (STILL haven't decided for sure whether to extend my leave) and I expect something similar, though probably (hopefully?) not AS hard since I've BTDT.
I'm sorry to hear this but I know I'd be the exact same way. ((Hugs)) Thanks everyone for sharing your thoughts. I am going to try to work more while she is napping etc. to spend as much time as I can with her.
