Well...we have a Josie, so I may be biased. (Her full name is Josephine, though).
Other "Jo" names we considered are Johanna and Jocelyn.

Joelle is a lovely name, but I feel like it clashes with Rothwell. Josie fits better. Also, I tend to agree about Josie being more of a nn.

They're both NMS, but I think Josie sounds nicer. Joelle seems to hail from the '70's --elle and --lene names, and feels kind of dated.
