SO: Federal Workers-impact

Hi ladies,
For you federal workers who may be impacted again by budget shenanigans, or for anyone else who cares to answer....

Will the actions by Congress and the President over the budget and Affordable Care Act change your voting behavior in the future?

For me, I live in MA, where our version of the ACA was put in place by Romney when he was Governor.  It's a huge help to be able to get health insurance outside of your workplace, and since not having insurance isn't an option for our family because of pre-existing conditions, the potential penalties don't hurt us.

I'm furious that House Republicans are trying, AGAIN, to repeal a law that has passed both houses of congress and been deemed constitutional by the Supreme Court.  For them to gamble on a possible government shutdown because of their intransigence is unforgivable.  (Of course, my congresspeople are democrats, so I won't be changing my vote during the next election.)

ETA:  I've voted for both democrats and republicans in the past, but I'm sad and disturbed that so many moderate republicans seem to be losing their voice in the Tea Party craziness.  In any other year, I may have voted for Scott Brown, but there's no way I could, in good conscience, give a vote to someone who supports a party that wants to deny basic rights to people who don't make enough money, love the right person, or have the proper background.

  • My H is a gov't employee, though he works for the judicial branch so he wouldn't immediately loose pay over a government shutdown...but I determined a while ago that I will never vote for a republican again...not that it matters since I'm from TEXAS: the homeland of the stubborn Tea Partiers.

  • No, I vote for the person and not the party they are associated with.  I always have and always will.

This. Not that I have much faith in any of them!

  • I think everyone agrees something needs to change with health care but the problem is that obamacare can not be implemented successfully so they need to find another solution. So no I won't change who I'm voting for over a shut down..

I agree with the other PP however, what really gets me is this hurts everyone not just federal workers.

The lady waiting for SS because her husband passed, they paid for this.

The Veteran that fought for his country and waiting for his benefits, which he has already waited to darn long.

FHA loans and VA loans for homes.

Like for real please grow the hell up and be adults.

I agree with you. My brother is in the military and if they stop his pay that is ridiculous. If everyone in the government could man up and figure it out that would be great. I just think Obamacare is not the answer. I don't know what is though.
