Re: Afraid of the scale...

  • I had already gained 6 pounds at my 12 week visit and I'm sure I've put on more since then, we'll find out next week. Since my morning sickness has eased up I haven't been starving so hopefully the weight gain will level off!

  • I keep weighing less since I've been sick. I expected the weight to sky rocket back up after I stated eating again and it hasn't! I'm glad right now!
You might be surpised by the scale!
  • 16 weeks tomorrow gained 12 :(( and people still call me skinny wat can I say I love to eat ALOT
  • I have them weigh me backwards everytime. I told my midwife if there are issues to let me know and she assured me that she would.
  • I weighed myself this morning, and I am going to the gym today!  I'm pretty amazed that I managed to gain weight even throwing up 2 or 3 times a day - but I am glad to say that I'm not gaining it in my usual bad places.  Weight usually goes to my face first which I hate, and that's not happening with these 10 pounds so far!

  • I've gained atleast 8 lbs oh my gosh!  I am sickened by that amount... oh well I am not actively doing anything about it.
  • No idea how much I've gained - but it's a lot!
  • @lfybabii I'm right there with you. 17 weeks tomorrow and I'm up 11. I'm definitely upset about it, as I've been eating generally healthy food - but more carbs. I recently lost 50 lbs (within the last 2 years) and typically eat high protein/veggies and just a few carbs here and there so when that's all I could stomach first trimest - and still sometimes now - plus working out less, it was a recipe for weight gain disaster ...

  • I weighed this morning and was up 4, but I was 6lbs below pre pregnancy weight. So still down 2. I was surprised since I haven't Ben able to eat much.

  • @awhitworth926 - Going back to eating carbs has been rough on me, too! I think that has contributed so much to the weight I have gained so far. My body is enjoying celebrating Thanksgiving early, but I am hoping that this trimester I will be able to get back in check a bit!

  • I got on the scale at the last appointment and my weight was more than last time.. I wasn't happy about it, until I told myself "hey, you are pregnant... you are going to gain weight".

I think as long as you aren't stuffing your face 24/7 with sweets and junk, you should be okay.

  • well im not sure how but I am down another pound. Total for 5 pounds. A little odd, considering how easily I gain and how crappy I have been eating. I assume it will start going up soon, but since I just started getting bad morning sickness the last week or so, who knows.

  • I've only gained two, but I feel like its 88765442224 pounds.
  • I had gained 10 lbs by 11 weeks. Now I'm approaching 16 weeks and I've gained a total of 12 so I think it's leveling off a little. I'm trying not to panic. My OB said she gained 10 lbs in her 1st trimester every time, and now she's a rail. So here's hoping!
  • I've gained 14lbs and am at week 16. I'm kinda surprised I've gained that much as I'm eating pretty well and exercising regularly. But it seems to all be in my belly and boobs which are normally the last place I gain weight, so I know it's just by body doing it's thing. But 14lbs is A LOT!

I put on 4 lbs, and that was since my last appt at 14 weeks, my next appt is next week and I'll be 17 weeks.. As a rule I've only been weighing myself at my appt. I really don't want to obsess about it.. Im pregnant, I'm going to gain weight!!
  • 17 wks and put on 9 lbs. I'm seeing numbers I've never seen on my scale before! Just trying to laugh it off and "well, that's a new one!"

  • At 14 weeks, I am up 4lbs. It's normal....I read this morning, for the 1st trimester, you should gain 1-5lbs.  We are going to gain weight girls :) It is harder seeing the scale go up again, knowing I lost it all after DS... BUT the point is, I know I have it in me to lose it all agaiN! :)

  • Seriously, we can't be afraid of the scale ladies.  Yes, it is a little alarming to have to admit "Wow, that is the most I've ever weighed."  But we are pregnant!  Of course our weight is going to go up at a crazier rate than it ever has!  What did you expect?

As long as your Dr. tells you that you are on target and at a healthy weight, don't freak out, just roll with it - enjoy it while you can!  Now, if after you have your kiddo and you find yourself having a hard time losing the weight, that is a different story... but we aren't there yet, we have NO idea how our bodies will handle the full pregnancy.  We shouldn't worry or fret over things that are natural and healthy for the baby.  And right now, it is all about the baby, not us! :)
