Would you send him?

Ds came down with croup on Saturday (after having a stomach virus the week before!) Dh took him to the pedi and she said he is 100% cleared to go to school today and is no longer contagious. His cough is almost gone. He is an active kid and is back to his normal shenanigans. Would you send him to school??

I'm worried he'll cough and the other parents will side eye me for bringing a sick kid. Plus his school is a cesspool and he obviously has a weakened immune system. I don't want him catching something else!

  • I'm not really getting your reasoning from your second post.  Based on the first, I'd say yes, send him.  But you SAH so if you feel more comfortable giving him another day to rest, that's fine too.  I don't understand saying you don't want him to go today and get another bug and bring it home.  He can get a bug any day he goes so I wouldn't keep him home for that reason.

  • The fact that his immune system has been in over drive for 2 weeks straight makes me worried he'll catch something serious... He doesn't go back to school until Friday, so he'll have the whole week to recoup. I tried to get him dressed to go and it ended in a snotty, teary mess! Looks like today is a pajama day for us all.

Gotcha.  I was thinking it was go today or go tomorrow and to me there's no real difference but I can see skipping today if he wouldn't be back until Friday anyway.
