Length of dinner?

I am moving towards all solid foods and stopping the jar of baby food. How long do you let your LO eat for? Last night I let her eat for over an hour (playing and gumming food) and she still ate an entire pouch before we started her nighttime routine. We had to put her to bed late so she would nurse since dinner ran so late.

Until they're finished. With that being said it takes about 30 usually at the most. A little longer some nights if we're having something new. My nighttime routine is very flexible in that bedtime is 7:30ish ... We get a bath at least every other night so that we ave time to play, read or just hang out if dinner last a while. Now I will say enough s enough if I notice they are just playing with the food and not attempting to eat any.

DS is the opposite. Dinner rarely lasts more than 20 minutes. We've been doing BLW for months, so he is pretty efficient at getting foods into his mouth. Once he is done eating, he'll start throwing foods on the floor, and sometimes he'll even pull of his smock.  The only times he'll eat for longer lengths of time is when we are out with friends and he's too busy looking around instead  of eating.

Usually it takes about 15-30 minutes, depending on how hungry he is. If it seems like he's playing rather than eating, I end the meal.

i just wait until she's finished. DD takes a long time to eat, she chews real slow and studies the pieces of food before putting it in her mouth haha.

forever! I try to feed DD for the first 30 mins or so then she wants to feed herself & then play with her food. 60-90 minutes in the high chair is not uncommon. i just figure she's learning, its not like that at every meal, usually just dinner.
