So pissed. need to vent please.

Oh man, i am mad, frustrated, pissed, etc. i apologize, this is TL;DR but the typing is diffusing my anxiety but my blood is boiling!

I hate selling things on Craigslist, Kijiji, etc. Sometimes its so hard to get rid of stuff and sometimes people are a real piece of work. Like this one woman who wanted to buy a high chair from me. She answered my ad on Friday during the day, wanting to pick up the chair as soon as possible so she can deliver it to her sister for her home daycare. I e-mailed her right away to make arrangements and informed her that it was a very busy weekend for us and we will be in and out all weekend but we can try to make it work. She would take hours to answer back. Same with her text messages, and never once actually call me back.

 I text her friday night, no reply. I text her again saturday morning, no reply. She replies back to me 4 hours later. She goes on about how she stays up late and sleeps in late because of her pain and disability, emphasizes her difficulty getting around, but has her wheelchair van. I am like ok- i feel bad so i will work with her, plus she needs it ASAP. She says she will pick up anytime, so i say around 9 ish. At almost 11pm she texts me, saying she just went out and is no longer in the city and can't pick it up right now! She wanted to could come MUCH later like after midnight. (Are you nuts?) So I reminded her of my availability for Sunday and asked her if she can commit to it. She says yes and asks if i can drop it off (which i NEVER do but said yes because she is literally 10 minutes from me and i wanted this chair gone.) She told me to call her in the morning as i am getting ready to leave to visit family out of town.

 i called 2 times around 9am- no answer so I left a voice mail and said i would drop it off later in the evening and would call back her to arrange. She texts back hours later asking when i am going to drop off the high chair because she needs it ASAP for her sister's home daycare. She wants to meet somewhere else- a few exits off the highway away from my exit or in another area of town. i said no i can drop it off to your house or else i have to go straight home as it was almost 10pm, my kids need to get to bed. She is insistent that she has to get this high chair today, she can pick it up later as she is busy collecting other things for the daycare and asks me to give her more time. I said No because its late  (it's almost 10 pm and we have been driving for almost 2 hours) and i had to get my kids home to bed. She insists on coming to get this chair tonight and keeps asking my address so she can come get it. I am clearly not comfortable with her insistence on coming to my house, especially at 10pm so i tell her. I say sorry, we cant make this pick up work, i have to pass the chair along to someone else because we have been going on for 3 days now, back and forth. I was already home at that point, i was not going out again and would not accept visitors. 

here's where it goes very sour. She got mad.... She says how could i do this to her, I already promised the high chair to her. I reminded her that i told her from the begining that this was a busy weekend for us and SHE was the one who said she HAD to have it this weekend so i tried to be accomodating. I told her she was very hard to get a hold of, by email, text and phone call. I even tried to get a hold of her to deliver it twice in one day and she wasn't available. She went on and on about how it was horrible on my part, It wasn't fair because she is in a wheelchair and i have to be more understanding, and she is disabled and can't get around etc. i politely told her that i tried to be accomodating. I can't imagine how hard it is to be disabled, but i see how hard it is for my father in law because is paralyzed, but that has nothing to do with the high chair so lets not go there. I said i was going to move on and sell the chair to someone else and wished her well. She goes on to tell me that i dont know what its like to be in a wheelchair and says that i dont want to sell her the high chair because she is handicapped. WHAT IN THE EVER LOVING F*CK? I was not going to go there so i said once again, it had nothing to with her disability and i even said i would deliver but she wouldnt return my texts for hours! She said that if i wanted the high chair sold, i should have made myself more available and been more patient and accomodating. Other people that she bought from were more accomodating, brought things to her and even loaded things in her van for her! I said I am sorry but your disability is not the reason i am moving on to another buyer, and frankly has no place in this conversation. I wished her well and said we were done talking. She said i was damn pathetic and the high chair was for her sister and if i did this to her sister, i would get told off so bad. She said i was pathetic because i wouldnt wait for her to come get the chair. I said no, i have been trying to work something out with her since Friday and it's not working so i am moving on and said goodbye. She goes "then fine, i don't want your stupid chair, i will get another for cheaper' (ya good luck trying to get another 250 dollar Peg Perego high chair with music player and leather seat for 35 dollars). Then a few minutes later, I get a text from a very similar cell # asking me if the chair is available and if they can come pick up. Ya right.....i didn't even answer.

I can't fucking believe that she would play me with her disability like that. That bothered me so much because i am sensitive to disabilities because my FIL is handicapped. I see how hard it is for him and i imagine its a lot tougher on him than just what i see with my own eyes.

I would have disengaged her a long time ago. You have a lot more patience than me. Good thing she never got your address because bitch sounds crazy.

I wonder how many people she cons with the whole wheelchair thing.

 ETA: Not saying that I think she isn't disabled-- I mean I just wonder how often she pulls that crap to get things her way. I can only imagine the free meals and such she could squeeze out of people.
A lot of people in OP's shoes might even have given her the high chair for free at that point.

This woman sounds shady as all hell. For all you know, her entire story might be fake. I wouldn't take anything she says to heart, and I certainly wouldn't have kept responding.

OP, that woman sounds like an asshole. I woulda cut her loose a lot quicker. Fuck her. Really.

On another note, why wouldn't you post your cell number in a craigslist ad? If you are selling something it can be easier to talk directly to a person than communicate via email.

My cell number is not a state secret. Not about to give out my address, but giving someone your phone number should not be a scary proposition.

Ok sorry I didn't read it all. I was recently trying to give something away on kijiji. As soon as someone didn't show or didn't get back to me, it was on to the next person. I wouldn't have tried so hard with that woman.

Well then the text from a similar number seems really sketchy.  This woman sounds above and beyond creepy now, and I hope you don't respond to that one.

And to the pp who asked about why I wouldn't put my cell # in an ad, is because those are seen by a lot of people.  I'd rather receive an email and then give out my cell # to those that genuinely seem interested in the item for sale rather than prank calls or people calling just to ask questions.

That was me! To speak to your concern, you honestly have very little to worry about there.  I used to hand out cards with my cell number on them, put it on signs, give it to anyone I met who I thought might possibly have a referral for me, as well as splashing it all over the internet, and I have never received a prank call.  Not one.  I know that's anecdotal, but it's doubtful there are a lot of people trolling high chair ads on craigslist and making prank calls.  

Of course you should do business as it pleases you! Most people that will call you on a craigslist ad will have actual interest in your goods, so if you want to make yourself available to the widest variety of buyers and have the best chance of quickly selling your shit, than it's cool to give out your phone number.

I also sell alot on craigslist. I think you where trying to be way more accomodating than I would have been. I keep contact with all interested buyers, until someone meets me, and picks the items up. If she wanted to high chair that bad, she should have made time to get it.

You did nothing wrong.  She was clearly trying to manipulate you and unfortunately probably uses her disability as a way to do that to others.  Kudos to you for not buying it.
