I use 1/2 ground beef and 1/2 mild Italian sausage. I leave out egg and add Italian bread crumbs. Sooooo good. The extra fat and deliciousness in the sausage helps bind it all.
I've made it without an egg bc I realized midway I didn't have one - it was a little crumbly but still tasted great. Really, to me, it barely made a difference.
