So when we originally started researching monitors, I wanted one that came with a screen but that you could also use your cell phone with. Apparently these don't exist, or we at least couldn't seem to find them. (So if you did, input on those would be greatly appreciated!!) I've resigned myself to the fact that this may not exist, that you either have to do what I call a 'traditional' video monitor OR one that uses a smart phone as the monitoring device, and that's when the fight started....
Husband wanted the IP camera where we'd just use our cell phones because then we'd both be able to see in the nursery on our respective phones and he thinks it'd be cool to peak in when we aren't home. Apparently some of these cameras got better reviews than the 'traditional' ones too. However, when I think about this practically, it means that every time we have someone babysit, they have to get set up on the camera. What if a babysitter doesn't have a smart phone or their cell phone is broken/left at home? And when they leave, how do we make sure they can't pull it up on their phone? (I was told I'm being paranoid about this but seriously, how weird would that be to know that someone could click a link on their phone to see us in the nursery with baby at 3 am?)
I appreciate any thoughts and especially any advice from people who have chosen one versus the other!
Re: 'Regular' video monitor vs one for cell phones?
My brother-in-law did mention something about not having the screen on all the time but I feel like that's something we can change our phone settings on and it isn't like those hand-held monitors have great battery life. Thanks so much!
