tips on doing a bun in LO's very fine/thin hair?

DD is alwayyyyyssss asking me to put a bun in her hair and now she is taking ballet & I know it is required for the recital so I feel like I should try to figure it out. Her hair has taken forever to grow (it is just below her shoulders and she has had two tiny little trims ever, at the age of 4!)... her ponytail is like the width of my widest finger (I don't have delicate hands but still!)... How do I wind this little pony into a bun & get it to stay?

Pony tail with a clear tie, then wrap it the best you can and pin it with a bobby pin that matches her hair color. Use pomade to smooth it all down.

Put it up while it's wet. Should work better.
