I'm sure this has been talked about, but I still can't search threads on my phone..

Anyhow., I know a few ladies here have mastitis- when did you go to the doctor? I know the symptoms, but did anything in particular stand out to you?

The dr prescribed me antibiotics and said to pump and dump.. For 10 days?!? That doesn't seem right.. I was sure you could breastfeed while on antibiotics.. I have a call into the LC. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, @blondiebia21!!

Pump and dump? That's not good. My doctor told me the milk was still good from the infected breast.

After trying for 24 hours to power pump what I thought was a bad clogged duct, once I saw the redness and warmth coming from the spot on my breast I knew it was mastitis.

I went to the doctor the next day and was feeling better by 24 hours. All better by 72.

UPDATE: Yea my drs a quack. . I called the pediatrician and he said I was fine to keep nursing. I'll be looking for a new dr... Mostly bc he argued with me lol

You should also check out kellymom it says you can nurse too. Plus it gives lots of helpful suggestions.

i've been struggling the last 2 days. I'm trying warm compresses and nursing every 2 hours. I think it is improving (the fever is gone) but if it is still sore tomorrow I'll go to the dr. I'm hoping to avoid antibiotics if at all possible.
