Wedding Attire

So we are going to a wedding in the middle of no where tomorrow, directions say turn left onto the dirt road and it is in the state forest. The setting is a park type place on a lake and the wedding is in a pavilion on picnic tables. The little card that came with the invite said "dress is casual and comfortable" and says be sure to bring extra clothes for the kids due to the lake and play area.

So my question is what do you consider casual and comfortable? I have a feeling that everyone will be in jeans. I hate wearing jeans to a wedding and was thinking of wearing khakis and a nice shirt/sweater same for DH. What would you wear?

I can't imagine not wearing a dress to a wedding. Though I guess if it specifically says casual then everyone has a lot of freedom.

  • I would wear a casual dress or skirt or nice pants would work.

Then and now. How did my boy get so big?

  • A sundress can be casual. We had a similar dilemma for a friend's outdoor wedding. We ended up dressier than the officiant and the groom but not the bride. It's unlikely your attire will upstage the bride so wear what you like.

  • I would be all "WOO! I don't have to wear a dress!" Then I would wear dark, dressy jeans and a dressier top.

  • I wore a maxi dress to a casual back yard wedding but that was summer. I hate how I look in pants though. I bet there will be a lot of anything goes.

Same here. I would wear a casual dress. I find dresses to be much more comfortable than pants, though.
