Hear heartbeat at first u/s?

in May 2014 Moms
I'm so excited to go for our first appt and u/s next Friday. I will be 8 weeks and 6 days. I know on early ultrasounds sometimes you can only see the heartbeat and not yet hear it. Anyone have experience hearing it that early??

    I think you should be able to hear it! It may depend on the type of ultrasound, though!

    I think it will depend on what type of ultrasound.  I had an internal yesterday with my RE at 6w6d and we heard and saw the heartbeat.

    I went at 7w2d and didn't hear it. I'm not sure she tried though. We did see it.

    I saw and heard the heart beat at week 6 & 7 at my RE....will see if my OB's equipment is as good when I go week 8

    I've seen it twice this week. Didn't have the option to hear it.

    I had my first transvaginal ultrasound at 6w6d with DD and saw/heard the heartbeat. I think it depends on the type of ultrasound machine.
