I know it's drs preference and I'm pretty sure my drs preference is staples. I was reading on here and am now all nervous about my recovery being harder because of staples. Please fill me in on your experience and preference if you've had multiple sections with both ways ect? I'm having twins and am needing some peace of mind or ill be pushing my dr to do something different if I can.
TIA!
I had staples first and stitches second. My second recovery was easier but I can't say it was because of the stitches because I hear the second recovery is always easier.
I had staples first and stitches second....staples suck! Stitches are soooo much better. You don't have to have them removed and my staples got stuck on my clothes and ripped!!!!! IMO staples are outdated and unnecessary.
I got staples. I felt like Frankenstein until they took them out; you could barely see the cut! They just put some glue stuff on it. It was so nice, I was so relieved! I'm pregnant with baby #2 and definitely want staples again!
I had staples and then steri strips. The staples were fine, all things considered. NBD having them removed, like someone else said. It's worth asking if you can request one or the other, but i wouldn't stress about it.
I had staples the first time that had to be removed about 7 days post op. the second time I had dissolvable staples inside and skin glue on the outside. I preferred the skin glue over the actual staples but neither one was too bad. It was just nice to not have to have staples taken out and it felt like my incision pulled less with the skin glue.
I had staples because that's what my doctor uses and had no issues recovering. We only have one child so I can't give you something to compare to...I can just say it was not bad at all.
I had staples first time around and glue 2nd time. It has nothing to do with how they closed my incision, but my first c/s recovery was easier than my 2nd.

Lurking... Had staples with my first and it was an awful recovery complete with infection and had stitches with my second and my doctor told me that there is less incident of infection with sutures than with staples. That being said though every doctor is different as well as women, some have a good experience with staples and some don't. I will say that the stitches itched like crazy and I was allergic to the steri-strips that had to stay on for 2 weeks. I'm sure you can talk to your doctor about what would be best for you
ETA-My second recovery was fine, I also wanted to say I don't think that the staples cause my infection but there were other factors involved that may have caused it. I just remember more pain in the incision site the day after for me, it was a weird feeling with staples in my skin.
I had staples with first and thought it sucked and made it generally very uncomfortable. Second time around, I requested the glue and the doctor informed me that if she was able to, she'd do what I requested. The glue was much better for me. I'll be requesting the same this time!
I had staples and had a very easy recovery! They removed them the day I left the hospital and then just put steri strips on. It was my 1st birth though so I'm not sure about stitches.
Internal stitches and glue. Recovery was so much faster & easier than I expected. My cousin was telling me about her long recovery with staples so I was nervous about them.
Pregnancy #1 EDD 1/20/13, D&C for unexplained miscarriage at 12w
Pregnancy #2 EDD 8/28/2013, Carson was born on 6/28/2013 at 31w - spent 37 days in the NICU
My stomach region is allergic to metal, I get red itchy and swollen. My csection was staples and it was not enjoyable at all. Removing them was pretty bad as I had an allergic reaction to the metal they were difdicult to remove.
Both times I've had staples, and both times the staples were removed after 4ish days before I left the hospital. At that time, the doc/nurse then put on steri-strips, which I wore until they fell off.
I didn't have any issues. My recovery was hard because it was a c-section - I don't blame the staples. But then I can't compare it to stitches since I never had them, so....
