Then and now. How did my boy get so big?

Re: FFFC

  • My child eats Mac & Cheese almost every day for at least dinner. Sometimes lunch and dinner. I try new foods but he's a texture freak! He does eat any type of fruit you put in front of him but only purée veggies. The babysitter probably thinks I'm a lazy mom. But my child LOVES Kraft Mac and cheese...any other kind he picks away to get to the good stuff.

  • Ready for this shitty one? Mine and my kid's health insurance ran out August 30, but I haven't gotten new insurance yet. Why? Because my baby's father decided to stop paying his half of daycare until we get custody figured out at the end of October. So I now have to come up with 200-300 extra dollars a month. Oh, and I don't qualify for Medi-cal because, although I work part time, I work two jobs part time and thus make too much money for aide. I am sick with guilt about this one. I've gotta figure something out soon.
  • Omg, mm :( big hugs, lady.

I have to poop really bad. But I'm procrastinating. I don't know why.

  • I don't like when unattended children flock to me at the park. They're too young to be at the park alone but too old to be trying to pick up my kid. They always ask me to help them climb something and push them on the swings. They always inadvertently knock my kid over and it takes every ounce of willpower I have not to scream at them.

I feel bad for them that they are there alone and clearly craving adult attention but I have my own kid to help climb things and push on the swing. I know it sounds more like an UO but it's a confession because I know it's wrong to feel this way since it's not their fault their parents are clearly not watching them as much as they should.

  • Thank you, ladies. I'm just praying she doesn't get sick anytime soon. You know, because kids never get sick in October, right?
  • @mmknightly

Hugs. You are such a good Momma!

  • B's innie belly button already has that perma-dirt look because her pot belly makes it hard to clean and it might have been skipped too many bath times. I do swipe it every time now but that dark crease is really deep and DH freaks when I try to go after it because his is really sensitive and he thinks if it's torture for him it is for her. I only cleaned mine out when it popped in pregnancy so I guess I'm saying we don't clean our belly buttons over here!

  • @mmknightly have you taken a close loom at your states health coverage for children under 18?

I know every state is different but here in Indiana you can still qualify for low premium insurance thru the state for children even if you make too much to get free state aide.

My brother has insurance thru the state for my niece and they pay like 15-20 dollars monthly premium and like a 5 dollar co-pay per doctor visit.

The income cutoff for the low premium plans is almost double the cutoff limit for medicaid.

  • My husband swears up and down that basil makes him deathly sick because he had horrible indigestion TEN years ago from some lasagna I had made that happened to have basil in it.  He refuses to eat anything that has basil in it.  Last night for dinner we had raviolis stuffed with roasted veggies and basil and he ate the shit out of them.  I did not tell him about the basil.  15 hours later, he's still fine.
Does he eat thai food? A lot of thai food has basil but you'd never know.

I just screamed at someone over the phone because they told me I couldn't cancel my security system. Even though I sold my home. And I'm moving across the country. And I'm moving in with my parents. She lied to me and said that ALL the managers were in a meeting. That's bullshit.

    I'm fuming!!

ETA My husband just called them back and was able to get to a manager. Isn't that funny? When I asked for a manager I was very pleasant. Until I heard that crap.

I'll look into that! Thanks for the tip!
  • @jodegaard, it's effing endless, girl.  We have airplanes that fly over our house b/c we're south of O'Hare International Airport and Midway Airport, and he'll whisper under his breath, "That one doesn't look like it's flying in the right direction..."  How the fuck do you know what direction they're supposed to be going in?!?!

    Ohmygosh, I'm dying!

  • DH and I got in a heated argument the other night basically over all his career choices lately and how he's left me out of the loop in some decisions. I lost my shit when he kept interrupting me and I punched him... really hard... in the arm. I immediately regretted it. It got him to shut up long enough for me to finish telling him what I've been trying to tell him for weeks now- that he needs to calm the eff down and take a step back cuz he's not always right about everything in his job and his life- so I was happy that I could finally tell him that. But I feel like shit cuz I hit him, even after apologizing. I keep thinking the cops are gonna show up at my door and arrest me for DV.

My H never wants to have sex. He's a great H in every other aspect, so I tried to let it slide that our sex life sucks. I finally got fed up with it and discussed the issue with him. Since then we have discussed it several times and nothing ever changes. Whenever I bring it up he shuts the conversation down. Last night it came up again and I think he genuinely feels bad that I am always the one initiating and getting turned down. I really don't think things will change, though. The flameful part is that I am pretty sure I am going to stop initiating. It's killing my self esteem and making me feel unattractive. Sorry to be a Debbie Downer, ladies. I just needed to get that off my chest.

Oh man, @Ajm11, that is hard stuff.  I'm sorry.  I haven't read if anyone has responded to you yet, but is he depressed?  Has he seen a doctor about it?  I hope you can get it figured out.

I'm so sorry. Have you considered individual counseling or couples counseling?

  • @Ajm11, that doesn't sound like a fair existence at all. Is he sometimes willing? Has he seen his doc? Often it's a hormonal imbalance, which can be fixed.

I could have written this myself. I'm joining your pity party @LindsayDesigner!

DH's schedule is dreadful right now. He leaves around 7-7:30am every morning. Mon-Wed he gets home after 9:30pm and Thur he gets home after 7:30. He gets home by 6pm on Fridays and that's a "good" day.

Tomorrow isn't technically work, it's supposed to be a family picnic put on by his work. But since he's a supervisor he has to help set up. AND it's during J's one nap, so we can't even go and hang out with him at what is supposed to be a family picnic. They want him there from 10:00-3:00. I'm trying not to think about it, because it makes me mad!

I try not to say I feel like a single mom out loud to anyone, because I know it's not the same thing and I wouldn't want to accidentally upset an actual single mom. BUT FOR REAL. I think it in my head all the days.

@gollywollypog and @jodegaard, thanks for the support. I don't think he is depressed necessarily, but I do think he struggles with some anxiety issues. I've talked to him about getting help with it, and he refuses. I think our only hope for this is counseling, and it's just really stressful. We both work full time, and I have mother's guilt over working such long days. I hate to take more time away from my time with DD, but I guess counseling probably would be good for our family. It just sucks, and I never thought I would be so down about my marriage.
Hugs! Please take the time to at least look at your options! It could make a world of difference. It's not just for you and your H, but also your DD!

I know it must be so difficult with the long days, it's easy to ignore the issues under the surface.

@Baker_Bride, he is sometimes willing, but I always initiate and often get rejected because he's tired or in a bad mood. I don't think he's cheating or anything like that. I wouldn't be surprised if it was a hormonal thing coupled with his anxiety. We've never been the couple who DTD every day, but we used to do it much more often. He hasn't seen his doc. I would like for him to, though.
I'm so sorry you are going through this.  I really hope that you are both able to work through this.

On a different note, I have to tell you that DD is OBSESSED with the Brown Bear, Brown Bear slider book you sent her for an Elfster gift a long time ago.  I've been meaning to tell you for quite some time. :)

That sounds a lot like my H with the anxiety. It's not a fun thing to deal with. I agree couples counseling might help but I wonder if he should seek individual counseling. That's helped us in the past. He's learned to cope with his anxiety that has nothing to do with me or the relationship.

Thanks, @jodegaard. I definitely will. I was a little nervous to post something personal like that, but I'm glad I did. It's not something I feel comfortable with talking about IRL (other than with my H), so it's nice to have the support.

I took a nap this afternoon, while the younger three took theirs.  I was supposed to put more laundry on, as it is sheets day at our house, but I have no energy.
I am feeling sad and down today.  It is the 3rd anniversary of one of my best friend's deaths.  I justified my nap.  I will just do the rest of the sheets tomorrow.

?!! lol  like alicia silverstone style?

No, not like that! Haha. Mainly just biting off chunks of fruit into smaller pieces because she chokes easily on that type of stuff.

I reread that and it looks like a bitchy response. I didn't mean it in a bitchy way, just that's how we do it here. I like baby wipes for almost everything. They're magical things.

I went through this, too.  I actually did give up coming on to dh completely in February 2012.  I just couldn't do it anymore.  Before you give up hope, check out the book "The Sex Starved Wife."  It turned out that my husband has super low testosterone.  He uses the ointment stuff and we've both really started to invest in our sex life.  We're doing a lot better than we were.  It's worth a shot.

I must have missed something cuz I don't know who you are but I nearly shit myself when I saw your avatar... Because my MALE coworker has a similar one for his FB pic.

  • @AmySmolos. If you read the list of ingredients in Kraft Mac and Cheese you might serve a different brand to your child. Kraft uses additives and dyes that are banned in thevEuropean Union. For more info, go to the website www.FoodBabe.com @twoItalians If your husband punched you in the arm really hard it would be considered domestic assault. You have mentioned several times how stressful his work schedule is. I hope the two of you come to some resolution that does not involve hitting. My FFFC is that I am beyond repulsed with the Teapublican party holding ObamaCare hostage and drastically reducing SNAP benefits. The truth is that most people receiving food stamps are elderly, disabled, children or the working poor whose employers like WalMart refuse to pay a living wage.
