Rozlynn

My husband came across the name Rozlynn yesterday and really loves it. I think the nn Rosie would be cute but is that a stretch? I'm afraid if we don't use the z in the name then it would be pronounced differently. When I looked online there are tons of spellings of this name, confusing me even more! Thanks for your help :) (Roslinn, Rozlin, Rosalin,Rhozlin, Rosalynn, etc.)

Re: Rozlynn

  • I know a Rozlin, spelled that way. There are so many varieties I don't know which is right, but the -lynn ending seems overdone and often looks like a made up smoosh name IMO. If you want to call her Rosie, then why not Rose for her given name?

  • My husbands grandma's first name is Rode but she has always gone by her middle name bc she does not like Rose. So we thought this would be a nice way to honor her without using the name that she has never liked.

  • My favorite name of this variety is Rosalind - not the same pronunciation, but not that far off, and I think it looks so much more elegant than Rozlynn.

  • The only way I've seen this pronunciation spelled is Roslyn like the city. I think the "z" really takes away from the beauty of this name and it's variants like Rosalind.

I would definitely avoid a Z. The spellings with S give the same pronunciation.

This lists a few variations/dimunitives if you want to take a look.

  • Thank u so much everyone for the responses!
  • My friend named her daughter Rosalyn and as far as I know most people correctly pronounce it Roz at the beginning.  But it may be helped that they use Roz as her nickname.  If you use Rose or Rosie as the nickname some people may assume that is how the beginning of her name is pronounced.
  • Rosalind is a beautiful name (spelled that way).
