Baby Names

Ace and Emersyn?

Hi! Although we are ttc #2 hubby and I have our second baby's names almost picked out. We have picked Ace for a boy. The hard part is picking a middle name. And I also can't decide on a girl's name. The ideas I have are Emersyn Claire, Emersyn Monroe, Scarlett Grace, or Scarlett Monroe. Help please! Thanks:)

Re: Ace and Emersyn?

  • I can spell it how I like. And i've seen Emersyn spelled like this for a girl. But thanks anyway.

Scarlett is a billion times better than a misspelled boy name. It's Emerson. If you use a boy name for a girl, own it and spell it correctly.

    Scarlett Claire is nice.

I am no help on Ace. Nope.
This. Emersyn is terrible. Ace is ok but sounds more like a nickname to me.

  • Then why Are you asking opinions?
  • Ace isn't my first choice for a boy's name but my husband has had his heart set on this name for a long time. Our first child was easy to name. Being a boy we named him after my husband, Brandon Jr. There aren't alot of boy names that I like so I'm leaving the boy name up to my husband.
  • Emersyn looks weird. Just spell it Emerson, and use a feminine name like Grace or Claire to be clear it is a girl's name. Emerson Monroe sounds like an old man's name to me. I prefer Scarlett Grace of your options but Scarlett Claire is nice too.

I do not personally care for Ace. Sounds like a nickname for a young kid on a sports team- Ace, Champ, Skippy, Buster, etc. But I would pair it with a 3+ syllable traditional middle name- Nicholas, Nathaniel, Timothy, Jeremiah, etc.

  • I don't like Ace, sorry.  Definitely one of those trying-too-hard names.  Maybe Chase?

I like Scarlett a lot and Scarlett Grace is fine.  I'm not really a fan of Monroe for a girl, either FN or MN, unless it has family significance, because it's all boy to me.  Emersyn is a misspelled boy's name.  Yes, names can be misspelled, and just because someone else gave it to their child doesn't mean it was a good idea.

  • What do you mean why am I asking opinions?
  • Oh please don't saddle a woman with Emersyn. At least spell it Emerson (although it is a boy's name and a last name at that). Other suggestions: Emmeline, Emily, Emma Rosalind (my best combination of names that sound similar to "Emersyn")

  • There isn't one way to spell a name. There are different variations of spellings. I'm asking for which first and middle name sounds better together, not how to spell a name. Thanks for the replies though. Scarlett Grace is beautiful and it has been a fav name of mine for a while so I probably will stick with it. Just considering other names.
  • I've loved the name Noah too but it's so popular now I want a name that's not popular or at least not very popular.

I prefer Scarlett Grace or Scarlett Monroe. Eta: or Claire.  I missed that somehow.

My late great uncle's name was Emerson, so to me, Emersyn is like naming a baby girl Rychard.

I think Ace is an adorable nickname, but I'm not a fan of it as a formal name.  If you do use it as a formal name, do you have some family names you'd want to use as a middle name?
Like Ace Joseph, Ace Henry, Ace Nicholas, Ace David, Ace Ryan, Ace Robert, Ace Edward?

  • That's the thing. I feel like Ace is very hard to pick a middle name for. Maybe I can convince hubby to pick a different name.

Ace is a pretty common nickname for little boys, unrelated to their given name. You could pick a completely different name (I love Noah btw) and your DH could call him Ace for a cute father-son nickname.

If he is absolutely set on Ace, has it been considered as a middle name instead of a first name?

  • Haven't considered it as a middle name bur thanks for the suggestion:) Now to find a first name to go with Ace. I still have time though and by then who knows what names will be on our minds. Maybe we can switch to Noah. It's perfect.
  • Emeryson's parents are being judged, I promise.

  • ill go with scarlet grace since it is spelled correctly
  • I like Grace and Claire.

I think Ace is a cute nickname, but I don't think I'd ever use it as a formal first name.

  • Drop Emersyn completely. The correctly spelled version belongs on a boy anyway.
  • Could y'all please stop with the spelling of the name? I'm the parent, i'll spell it how I choose to. Emersyn is not as bad as y'all think. Geez.
  • I like Ace as a nickname- have you guys considered Asa or Mason/Jason with the nickname Ace?  For your girls, I prefer Scarlett.  I like Monroe for a MN with Scarlett, especially if it is a family name.  I like Emerson ok (not a fan of the y, but if that is how you want to spell it, power to you), but I do feel like it is super trendy right now.
  • @talanswife thank you for not being rude! Very much appreciated:) Honestly though Scarlett is a name that I have loved for a long time and no matter what other names I think of I always go back to it. So her name will probably be Scarlett.
  • Haven't considered any of those for a boy. Thanks for the suggestions :)

Fine. I'm going to give you my most honest response to seeing Emersyn on paper: Wow. Her parents gave her a male name and couldn't spell.
    Poor kid.

    Congrats!

No need to be so rude.
  • I did want opinions but I never asked for an opinion on the spelling of a name.
  • They are just giving you an idea of what others are thinking

Opinions on any given name include feelings about how it's spelled (or in this case misspelled).
  • Yes but some people were very rude in their responses and there are better ways of responding.

People are harsh. I love Scarlett Grace. I have a boys name - Ryan - so I'm open to names for either sex, but I do prefer traditional spellings. I like how my mom didn't put extra n's or what not on me like Ryanne.

As for Ace if it's a first name I'd put it with a longer more traditional middle name. I dont mind it as a first name, not my style but not bad. I actually really like it though for a middle name and then DH can still call him by his middle name, something sweet & special between them. good luck picking out your perfect name!

  • @allardr thank you also for stating your opinion without being rude. I want to keep Ace as an option for either first or middle name because I know how much it means to my husband. As for the girl name i'm 99% on Scarlett but we'll see. Thank you:)
  • I am open to different opinions and I can handle things I don't want to hear. But yes some people were being rude.

Not sensitive and I can be just as rude as others on here but I choose to be nice. Maybe some others should do the same. :)
  • Thank you. I love Scarlett so much. Plus hubby doesn't like Emersyn(either way it's spelled) and we both love Scarlett. I understand your reasoning on why you don't like Emersyn and thank you for your non rude response.
