High-Risk Pregnancy

Progesterone lower than I've ever heard...so scared!

Hi ladies...

I am praying that someone else on here has had a similar experience that turned out to be okay because I am losing all hope. I googled this which was my first mistake but absolutely everything was dooming horrifying. I am 5 weeks pregnant, and my progesterone level came back as a 2!! A 2!! My hcg was a 50, which I thought was low as well, but the dr said she has seen that and things are fine as long as it doubles in 48 hours. She said she wont put me on progesterone supplements because sometimes a low number is an indication of a miscarriage or an ectopic pregnancy. I am scared to death to get my blood done again tomorrow. I have no bleeding or cramping, but no pregnancy symptoms either. My worst fear is being told I have to terminate this pregnancy. Please...if anyone has started out a pregnancy with such a low progesterone number and has had a successful pregnancy, PLEASE share!

So sorry you are going through that. I suggest you stop going to dr google its only going to give you more anxiety. I really don't like that wait and see approach your dr is taking because who knows maybe your the type who suffers from low progesterone and needs immediate supplements. Good thing is your still early and your next lab work will give you asnwers.. Stay positive.

  • I just woke up and for some reason your situation came into my mind. I wonder if the lab got your progesterone numbers wrong because a number like 2 doesn't even confirm ovulation and obviously your are pregnant with a hcg of a 50... I am very curious to what your next numbers are.. Please update me!!! Something is completely off
  • I don't know what my progesterone levels were at my first draw, but as for the HCG - I wouldn't be worried about that at all. My first draw was a 49 - and I have twins (not saying you'll have twins, just that it was really low and not only did I have one healthy baby but two).  Your doctor is right - it's not the number that counts, but if it doubles or not.  Good luck and please keep us updated. • I started at a progesterone level of 9 with this pregnancy and at 4 weeks my level was 9 ad HCG 119

With the other 2 kids I had progesterone at 11-13 starting out at 3.5 weeks and HCG starting at 15

I was immediately put on progesterone supplements with all 3 kids and have successfully had all 3 kids.
