Any PGD ladies?- Lurker needs help

HI ladies- I need some help. I don't think I've been this angry in a LONG time

DH and I met with our RE in mid-August. I have a genetic disorder so his plan for us was to do day5 PGD with a day6 transfer. He says he's worked with tons of couples with my disorder and I assume that's the protocol he did with them. That sounded awesome.
They normally go through GG in Detroit but our insurance only covered RGI in Chicago. We spoke to RGI, they couldn't do overnight results so we would have to freeze and do an FET later, so we decided to pay out of pocket for GG. Well today the RN called me and says that GG doesn't do day5 PGD with next day results either so we'd have to freeze with them as well....

What?! My doctor said he's gone with them many times before, we'd be able to do this plan... I've already started Lupron and have my dates set up. Everything is paid for. Now they tell me that they don't do that?! I feel like we were lied to and deceived by our doc. We specifically talked about not doing FET because success drops from 65% to 25%... that's huge! And he said we didn't have to.

Ladies that did PGD- what day did you have the embryo tested and when did you do the transfer? It is impossible to do PGD and a fresh transfer? If you did do PGD and a fresh transfer, what genetics center did you use?

I had PGD (I think it was actually CCS, but they referred to it as PGD).  I never heard of insurance covering it, so consider yourself lucky on that account.

My clinic does day 5 testing.  If you are going to do a fresh transfer (i.e. all your embryos look good by day 5, vs. letting them sit for a few hours longer to be technically day 6) then they will send for rush results.  Otherwise, you do a FET.  I had to go FET b/c of OHSS anyway.

I'm pretty sure the success rates for FET vs. fresh are actually better.  I don't know where you heard 25% success--unless that's due to your specific genetic disorder..?  I wouldn't fret about FET otherwise.  It's pretty easy.

That's my doctors success rates.... 60-65% fresh, 25% with frozen

Hey - I replied to your post on IF all about PGD and my experience, but I agree with PP - fresh and frozen rates do NOT differ that drastically! Frankly, that's not really very good...I would consider finding a new doctor if those are really his frozen transfer rates - it may have something to do with your clinic's freezing method, which can reduce frozen transfer rates. You may want to ask if your clinic is using vitrification - the latest and most effective way to "freeze" and thaw an embryo. If your clinic is not using this method, I would consider shopping around a bit...

Freeze-All IVF#2: May 2013 ER 5/15. 31R, 21M, 20F. 6 5AA frozen blasts. Our PGD probe was completed in late June (total of 20 weeks to develop). PGD and PGS Results came on 6/19: 3 healthy embryos (normal chromosomes and unaffected by my family's genetic disorder). FET #1: July 2013 Natural Cycle - Cancelled due to insufficient lining (only got to 7.5mm). FET #1.2: August 2013 - Medicated Cycle with Lupron & Estrogen Patches to build up lining. We did a day 3 biopsy with a day 5 transfer through reprogenetics. Is the day 3 biopsy an option for you? If you are just testing for a genetic disorder and not doing a full microarray for chromosomal testing, then a day 3 biopsy yields enough genetic material. Since we were traveling a long ways to get to our clinic, we planned it this way so as to not have to come back later for a FET. Do you have your probes completed already?
Am on my phone but can post more later if you need details. I second what Rosy said about asking about vitrification. I'm suspicious of that large of a drop in success rates with frozen.

Day 5 and 6 CCS (complete chromosomal screening) testing and FET later.

Is your PGD complete or partial? Are they only looking at select chromosomes or all of them?

If you're doing an FET with a PGD normal embryo, the rates would be different than just a regular FET, if that makes sense. Regular FETs would include embryos with chromosomal issues that aren't going to make it, regardless.

At my clinic the FET rate after CCS is CONSIDERABLY higher than a fresh transfer.

Our first IVF cycle we did PGS on day 5 and transferred on day 6.  My RE at that time seemed to think this was a perfectly fine idea, however, later I had second opinions with other RE's (three of them) and all said that day 6 transfers were much less likely to be successful.

I don't think that the stats you mentioned on FET are accurate.  Some RE's actually encourage FET, because your uterus is more receptive on a FET cycle than the fresh cycle.
