Interpretation of biopsy results..

My etegrity test came back 'inconclusive'. Neither positive or negative. They gave me 3 options: repeat the test again, ignore the test completely and carry on, or treat with depot lupron. I have no idea what to do. Repeating would just push everything back, maybe I should just go ahead with ER before I get any older, then repeat it later? I am tempted to ignore it, but I'd hate to compromise anything after all of this work and money. If I decide to treat it anyway, can anyone tell me what that's about? I could treat after ER, but before ET right? Is depot lupron an injection I assume? Is it as nasty with headaches and such as normal lupron? How long would I take it for? TIA for any advice!

It's an injection once a month for 2-3 months I believe. If it were me I would cycle since you are doing a freeze cycle anyway right? That will give you more time to think about what you want to do. Plus, your decision may change depending on how many embies you get (well at least my decision would change).

Do you have an actual copy of your report?  I was fortunate to be given a copy of mine and can tell you that there is a number called “H-Score” that is reported on the sheet.  Under that number it specifically says “Negative: 0.7 or below” and “Positive Range: 0.71-4.0”.  Mine was “0”.  I would ask your RE to provide you with that number - it may provide better clarity rather than a pathological interpretation.

In regards to treatment, I have learned that the treatment course varies dramatically from RE to RE and diagnosis to diagnosis. In my case I was negative and “out of phase”.  From what I understand Colorado usually treats my situation with Depot Lupron.  My local RE however only treats with Depot Lupron when the test comes back negative and “in phase”.  My DE RE was willing to compromise and prescribed a month of regular Lupron injections prior to cycle start.  The long and the short of it is I think you will be better equipped to make an educated decision if you know exactly what your report says.  I wouldn’t just jump into doing Depot Lupron or elect to redo the test without seeing the report.

Regarding how long the treatment course is, it is usually two months (one intramuscular injection a month).  If you are doing CCS, I would imagine that you could elect to have retrieval first and start treatment after if that is the route you choose.

I agree with you two on this the more I think about it. I think that it would make sense to go ahead with ER then decided after based on what happens. I feel a lot better about treatment if you say it's only one shot a month for 2 or so months. Sounds easy enough! I was thinking it was daily injects with that headaches inducing lupron. I am sure it wouldnt hurt anything to treat it if indeed it was a positive anyway, right? And, no, I didnt see the report, but I will call and ask about the H score and for a copy. Thanks for the advice!

Ugh, I am so sorry to hear your report was "inconclusive". How frustrating?! My opinion also would be to go through with your cycle and ER. Then have the biopsy done again your following cycle and hope for more conclusive results. It is at least 6 weeks from the time of ER to the time of FET anyway, so you could use that time to have the test re-done and/or do the Lupron injections if you need. This route would probably set you back the least amount of time. Good luck with whatever you decide!!
