Babies on the Brain

If you formula feed/fed

Did you prepare your formula with bottled water?  Baby Bargains says you should if the fluoride in your water supply is over .3ppm.  Any advice?

  • We used just regular old tap water run through an automatic filter system under the sink.

  • Thanks for your input!  I just found the Mayo Clinic's guide to formula preparation online, and they say any clean water (tap or bottled) should be fine, so that's a relief.

  • We used tap. Our pedi said there was no concern if we used tap

  • We used filtered tap from our fridge.  Pedi said it was just fine.

  • And also- I highly recommend generic formula.  SOOOOO much cheaper and most kids tolerate it just fine.

  • At first DH boiled bottled water. Um yeah.

Then we just used filtered tap when we went back to formula when C was older.

Yeah, we're hoping to use the Kirkland brand from Costco, it's so much cheaper than anything else!

We used Enfamil powder while we had samples then switched to Kirkland powder and never looked back.  We do keep a few of the 2 oz. Enfamil bottles around for on the go but we pour them in a bottle because the threads aren't great on the tops and my kids managed to yank the tops off and dump it all over themselves.

  • We used nursery water. We are on well water and it is highly recommended not to use well water because there is no way to know levels of things in the water. Unless you test it of course.

If you can get LO used to drinking room temp or even cold formula, it will benefit you greatly.

    This is also my plan!

We did this with #1 and plan on doing it with #2. Pre-made every morning in a Dr. Browns pitcher in the fridge.
