Babies: 3 - 6 Months

STM - play dates

Is there an unspoken rule about what you should do if your baby goes down for a nap around the time you are expecting a play date to come over?

I put DS down for naps whenever he's tired so the time varies each day a bit. It's hard to schedule a good time for visitors since I don't know when he'll be awake. Morning naps are usually short, but sometimes he'll surprise me with a 3 hr nap at 10:30.

Are you supposed to call the other mom & let her know? Or just wing it?

  • When inviting them over, I'd just let them know that the baby might be asleep when they arrive, but would be up shortly. That way, when they come over, they're not surprised. But yeah, if they didn't know that, I'd probably call and let them know and tell them they're welcome to come anyways.

Playdates are really mommy-dates anyways :)

This. Especially at this age, playdates are for mommys. DD is almost 4 months old and she sleeps through all playdates but DS is 2.5 and those are for him now.
