Prepping prefolds: dryer vs clothes line

Is drying the prefolds in the dryer an important step in the prepping process?  I can see how throwing them in the dryer would fluff them up more than if they are hanging on the line.  Using the dryer is such an energy suck and I like to only use it when necessary.  When it comes time laundering the used ones I plan on line drying.

I have Osocozy bleached prefolds.

Thanks ladies!

  • I don't think it'll make a huge difference in absorbency as long as you do the recommended 3-5 washes.  I would dry them in the dryer for 5-10 minutes when you're all done prepping just to soften them up a bit though!

  • I line dried mine, then ran them in the dryer for about 20 minutes every other time. (So I think I washed them 4x, line dried them 4x, and fluffed them in the dryer 2x.)

  • I thought that I read somewhere that drying prefolds in the dryer was best because it helps with the "quilting".  I could be very confused though,
