12 month old waking up at 4-430am

My 12 month old has recently been waking up between 4 and 430 in the morning and won't go back to sleep unless she sleeps on me. LO goes down on average at 730 and has been napping pretty inconsistenly during the day.  Could take 2 naps between 20-an hour each time. Any thoughts as to what is going on?

That happened to DS and a lot of my friends' kids. Usually DS would go back down if we gave him a bottle. I didn't want to do that initially because I was afraid of building a bad habit, but finally I gave in because I was getting so exhausted. The phase lasted about 2 weeks and then he went back to his normal schedule.

DS always had good naps though - he naps once at daycare and twice when he is home. Collectively, he naps about 2.5 - 3 hours during the day, goes to bed at 7:30 and gets up at 7 - was a lot earlier when he was younger but he has been sleeping in more and more, yay!

DS is going through a phase himself right now, but when he was 12mo he was just transitioning to haveing 1 nap a day vs 2. He will typically sleep 2.5 - 3 hours in the afternoons & that has been the case for a while now. I agree with PP that it might be worth adjusting his nap schedule to get him on his 1 nap a day schedule.

I noticed my DS was doing something similar. I kept him to two naps during the day but pushed his bed time back a 1/2hr. And that helped him sleep a little long. He normally wakes between 7 and 730 if I put him to bed between 830-9
