Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Slapping and Biting

HELP! My son was the perfect baby! It seems like overnight he has turned:(  I just got a call from daycare saying that he has been slapping and biting...

I don't know where this came from!  He just turned 14 months and I am not sure what the appropriate thing to do would be in order to re-direct his behavior.

Please help!

Re: Slapping and Biting

  • totally normal! my lo is 17 months and is just starting to stop herself from hitting. (maybe 10% of the time.) we got a book called "hands are not for hitting" that we read every night. when she hits we grab her hands and say hands are not for hitting and then redirect. if she keeps hitting then we stop whatever we're doing. if she's on the couch she goes down, if shes playing with toys they go away. but its totally normal, just sucks to see your lovely LO turn into this mean hitting machine. (really fun, when they give you the evil smile and smack you!)
