11 month old suddenly afraid of everything!?

DD out of nowhere is suddenly afraid of random things! first, she started crying sometimes when our dog is around (the dog's been around since she's been born), today she's afraid of climbing off the couch by herself, and just recently she's afraid of anyone sticking their tongue out because her aunt was chewing gum and blew a bubble out! can anyone explain what's going on? is this a phase?

DD started that with dogs recently too. She seems to be getting better after my mom had her crazy dog here for a week. I think it's just because they are more aware the older they get.
