He walked!!!!

My son is just over 15 months (13 months adj) and he finally walked! he has been pushing around toys and cruising for months and I never thought he was actually going to take a step but he took a few to me tonight and then walked back and forth between DH and I a few times before bed... I'm so proud.  There's this huge part of me that wants to brag about it on FB because I'm so proud but I know other parents will be like "my kid walked before 1" or whatever and I'll just get upset so I came on here where you guys will understand the excitement! I know he is not "late" but I have been feeling like everyone can walk except him lately! All my friends with younger kids already have walkers and I just wondered when it would ever happen!!!

That is so exciting!!!! I know what you mean. My daughter is 13 months and just under 11 months adjusted. I can't wait for her first steps. Yay!!

Uh-oh!! Here comes trouble!! Be ready to never be able to sit down!   That is so great that he walked!!  We have some steps down from our front door and Adalyn went down them without holding on to our hands the other day!  It's so great that we can really, truly celebrate these little victories because they are so incredibly astounding from our LOs who had such a hard start.  [:)]

Brag away. Anyone who says that on FB is a jerk. They should be able to celebrate in your happiness with you. Good job baby! Keep those steps going and make your parents chase you all over!!

How exciting! That is great. My little guy is 11 months, 9.5 adjusted and is finally getting a hang of the crawling thing so I can relate.

Thanks guys!! I know we all "walk" different paths and on different timelines but I feel like we know that more than many others. Before I became a mom I thought kids were all supposed to do things at certain times. I now see how grey it all is and how kids do things when they want to. My son is very stubborn at times and knows what he wants and when he wants it. I need to keep reminding myself he's doing things on his schedule. It's hard to not focus on what he's not doing but I find that to be my biggest challenge!

Thanks guys. I want to yell when people say he's a "late walker" because honestly he's not late for a full term baby like you've said but "everyone" has a kid that was an early walker of course. Meanwhile my son can do things that I'm sure their kids can't but I'm not going to be a jerk.
