Toy Rotation

Who does it? How are you doing it?

I do it a little differently then what most people suggest. Instead of putting some away (although I have some put away that he's not ready for yet), I have different toys or different rooms/activities. We have the main playmat toys which are the ones he's the most interested in. Then there are packnplay toys that stay in there. Car seat toys stay attached to the car seat, and we have a couple of toys that stay in each room for like when we have to put him on our bed or something. With the exception of a few teething toys that travel, we rarely deviate. It helps me out because I don't have to worry about bringing toys with me when I move him from room to room.

Does anyone else have a variation on the whole 3 box rotation routine?

Re: Toy Rotation

  • I do pretty much the same thing except if theres a toy that he loves more, it goes where he goes. He crawls so he goes to the toys he wants and from his room to the living room , I follow and watch him play. He has two toy boxes that are small and I turn them on their side and let him pick what he wants to play with. One toy box in the living room and one in the bedroom. Toys that can roll are in the living room since its hard wood floors and toys that are more stationary in his room with carpet.

  • Yes, we have most of his toys in the main playspace. Then I have a few in the diaper bag to keep so they're "newer" for the car/outings. One thing I've started doing with the main toys is putting them all in a small plastic bin, so throughout the day he reaches in and pulls them out one by one, so it's kind of like he's "discovering" them over and over.

I have toys/playmat in the living room and toys/playmat in the nursery and we just alternate where we play throughout the day. Though lately he is far more interested in going after the dog's toys than his own!

hahaha..This is so my daughter!  Even with all her toys she crawls over to where the dog's toys are and tries to play with them!
