New Orleans

MH and I are going to the LSU/Auburn game this weekend and decided to make a weekend trip out of it.  We're stopping in New Orleans for the day/night Friday.  I have a friend that lives there and is taking us around Friday night, but we need to fill some of the day.  What do you suggest?

Re: New Orleans

  • I was there after Katrina and we really spent most of our time on Bourbon Street, which was fun. There's also tours of the old cemetaries, we went on one that was really interesting.

  • Thanks, ladies.  I'm excited to do some of these things.  MH probably thinks he's eating healthy, but I'm shoving beignets down his throat, darn it!

  • If you are able to go out on a date, please go for tapas and jazz at three muses on frenchmen street.  Best food ever.  Great music and fantastic drinks.  You may have to get there early to get a table though

  • All the suggestions above are great. If your doing the French quarter, cafe maspero is one of my favorites for lunch. Also, I agree with LeiLei about Magazine St. The Bulldog is a great bar/ restaurant over there, and there's so many cute shops. Also, take the streetcar down St Charles. There are gorgeous homes out there as well as Audubon park & zoo. Also, you have to get a snoball at Plum St. snowballs (If they're still open for the season). That's all I can think of for now :)

I went to NO to watch Alabama play Utah in the Sugar Bowl a few years ago. I went with all my UA friends because we weren't in a bowl game and I just love football and road trips. We stayed in the French Quarter and it was a lot of fun! I think you will have a good time even if you just roam and don't have a set plan. It doesn't sound like you will have a ton of time so just enjoy the atmosphere and make a list of things to do on your next trip there if you can't make the great suggestions above. Have fun! I wish I was going! Oh, and War Damn Eagle!!!!! ;)
    GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAG ME. ;)

Btw, @mrsrek10, we're heading your way in a few weeks.  MH was there for the MSU game, but I avoided it because we lost to TAMU last year when I was in Jordan Hare and I refused to go again. ;)
