Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Portable Crib (not p-n-p) Recommendations

Could any of you recommend a portable crib you like (not a pack-n-play)?  We're going to be traveling soon, and my DD will not sleep in a pack-n-play.  She finds the mesh siding to be sooo interesting and will not sleep in it!

TIA

How old is LO? LO's been using the blow up toddler mattresses since around 16 months

P.S. LO won't sleep in the PnP unless i use the mattress pad i bought from the store, it is the same size as the PnP so there are no gaps.

  • The air mattress i use is this one- i used a coupon & reward points to buy it for around 50(?) I think the box says ages 2+. I knew LO would be sleeping on a cot at day care at 18 months so I wasn't worried. I've seen similar products at walmart for a lesser price tag. I like that the pump has an air 'in' and an air 'out' to help get it back into the bag. Plus it is only 6 lbs and fits into the bottom of my rolling luggage easily for flying.

The mattress for inside the PnP i found at Buy Buy Baby- the one in store was the only size that didn't leave a gap around the edges of the PnP. I looked at the dimensions of the PnP in the manual and then compared all of the insert brands with their dimension sizes. I also put the mattress into a PnP in the store of the same dimensions as mine before i brought it home.
  • I'm going to look into that blow up mattress. Ty

  • We have always requested the actual 'crib' at the hotels we have stayed at while traveling. You might call and ask about this. DS sleeps much better in a real crib than he does in a PNP.

The first time we did this I was horrified because it was this sketchy metal bar crib that looked like it came out of a Russian orphanage, but that happened to be the first night of many that DS STTN!!!  Also, we have used the hotel cribs a few times since then and it seems to be the standard. I was less worried because we just put the crib next to the bed so I can hear DS more easily in case he got stuck in the bars or something.

  • My DS won't sleep in a pnp either. We were going to get the delta portable crib from buy buy baby but we measured it and it would have taken up way too much space in our SUV, so unless you have a really big SUV and not a lot of luggage I don't think it would work. (That is if you are even taking a car).
Be careful when you book a hotel and ask for a crib bc some of them call a pnp a crib. We had to leave a hotel for this reason. Just ask to speak to a supervisor and explain you want an actual crib and can they guarantee it.
