I had one Mirena IUD for 5 years, had it replaced in January with an other one and then had that one removed in July. My DH and I got our BFP on our second cycle of ttc. I had no issues with my Mirena coming out nor did I have an issues after it was removed.
I have to have mine surgically removed in November (they couldn't locate the strings but an u/s confirmed it's still in my uterus). I've read that many people get pregnant right away. I also noticed a lot of internet posts regarding people get pregnant with multiples if you get pregnant right away but I don't know if that's just an internet rumor/coincidence.
@PhantomPower: Yikes! I have a check-up next month and will discuss removal with my dr. Fingers crossed it won't be as involved as yours! Friend of mine had hers removed last Fall and is now pg/due in January. She had some moodiness which she attributed to IUD removal but said the worst part was the 6-week continuous bleeding. Not looking forward to that part!!

Good luck with your appointment! I'll definitely be trying a different method of BC next time.
I had mine removed 8/01 after 2 years and had nothing that resembled a "crash" , I had 1 1/2 days of very light spotting after removal and that was it. I didn't have a period on Merina or the pill either; so I haven't had a real period in like 7 years or so. AF came on 8/30! After AF this month we will start trying! I'm sure you will be fine!!
I got my iud removed after 6ish months. Worst time in my life. I also had to get my surgical removed. I waited till my first cycle which was not bad at all. lasted normal time. did not bleed forever like I did when I got it put in. We are now ttc and I can test on the 28th.
I had mine removed in March 2013. I did have the crash (2 days of crazy up and down moodiness, nothing too bad though) and we've been TTC since with no luck.
Me too! I was fortunate I was never one of the "pizza-face" teenagers...going through that in my thirties sucks! Mine started out around the same time of month my cycle would happen (I don't have one with the IUD.) Now, there's not a day of the month I don't have at least 2 or 3 pimples. It's so embarrassing! I am so looking forward to eliminating that problem!!
I had the Mirena for 2.5 years; Dr removed it a month ago (August), no "crash", although I'd read about it too and was worried! Just some heavy bleeding for a few days. We are TTC and no luck this first month, but I also read about a lot of miscarriages in people who got pregnant on the first cycle after removal because the uterine lining is not thick enough to support proper implantation.
Re: Mirena

Married: August 2012
