Babies: 3 - 6 Months

STM's- How do you keep baby from getting toddler's colds?

My DD1 has had 2 colds in the past few months, and so DD2 has too! It's just the saddest thing when that tiny little nose is all stuffed up :( Any tips for how to keep baby from getting sick? My toddler just started preschool so I'm sure she's going to have a ton of colds this fall/winter and I'd really like to do whatever I can to keep baby from sharing every single one of them. I'm trying to be deligent about hand washing and wiping things down around the house, but would love to hear any tips and tricks other mamas use. Thanks!

Hope and pray? Otherwise I got nothing other than the hand washing and limiting contact.

  • I'd say to keep up with the hand washing. Also during the cooler times keep a humidifier going. I swear by those things. Good luck! I think its almost impossible though.

  • Hand washing is most important. No face to face contact. Breastfeeding is helpful. You can also try a tiny TINY bit of bacitracin on the out skirt of  little ones nostrils to capture bacteria.

  • Thanks for the ideas, I just bought a second humidifier since I think duel stuffy noses is going to be a trend :( Does the bacitracin thing really work? That's a new one for me, I'm curious now.

  • DD2 is almost 5 months and on cold #4.  I think it's just the nature of being the second kid.  I EBF and keep hoping it will help her but she still gets sick.
