Extended toddler wearing

I wore DD frequently when she was itty bitty. As she got older I didn't wear her as much.

With her g-tube in place, she's now in the 26-29lbs range (she hasn't had a weight check in a while). She doesn't walk yet and she's really causing arm and back fatigue. We use the stroller a lot but there are times that it's just not convenient.

I want to go back to wearing her more often. We have an Ergo but I'd like to see about some of the other carrying options out there. Do any of you extended baby-wear your toddlers? What carriers do you find to be the best? I've been doing a lot of research on this and would like your opinions.

Re: Extended toddler wearing

  • I have a 20-lb DD and I'm still  confortably wearing her in my boba.  In fact, I had her in it this past weekend at the airport while we traveled.  I now keep it in the car a lot because she prefers to be worn while we're running errands vs. being in the cart.  I like the boba because it even distributes teh weight between my hips and shoulders and the carrier itself is pretty comfortable.  My only complaint is that she does start to get heavy after a while, which is probably mroe because she's 20 lbs than the carrier itself.  My DH also has a poco backpack carrier, which is a structured carrier, that he really likes.

If you're interested in carriers, you should also check out the Attachment Parenting board.  There are a lot of moms who still baby wear with their toddlers and have lots of experience.  Good luck!

  • I highly recommend Tulas! They make a toddler carrier that would be perfect for that weight range. I recently got one and absolutely love it. It is so much more comfortable than other carriers I've used.

  • KINDERPACK!! They are sooo comfy! I have two. She restocks every thursday, so if you want to get one, tomorrow is the day! Looks like she still has some left from last week's stocking.
