Help with "Classic" boy names

Hey everyone!  We need help coming up with a boy's name for DS2.  DS1 is Grant.  DH is totally sold on Wyatt for DS2.  While I don't hate the name, I find it to be a bit too trendy/popular for my taste.  Generally I/we like names that are strong, not gender-neutral, not one of those "how do you say/spell that?" names and overall classic/timeless.  So, what suggestions do you have that might help me get DH off this "Wyatt" kick?

*Our other considerations at this point are Charles (nn: Charlie), Jack and Bennett but DH doesn't love any of them, so I'm still looking for something "better".

  • I should add about Charles - my niece is Charlotte.  My sister said she wouldn't care if we used Charles/Charlie, but do you think it's too similar to name DS2?

  • William, Matthew, Michael, Harrison, Edward...just a few

Personally, I don't think it's a big deal.  The beginnings of the words are so different than I don't immediately think of the names as related.  The soft "shar" sound versus the harsher "Char."

The only thing that would give me pause is if they called Charlotte as Charlie.  Even if it's occasional, I'd probably pick something else, especially if your kids are going to see each other a lot.
They don't currently call her Charlie, but that's not to say once she gets to school other kids might not give her the nickname "Charlie" (and if that's what she wanted to be called, I think my sister would go with it).  So, it would be a gamble.

  • When I think "classic," I think James, William, Henry, Oliver, John, Lawrence, George... British royal names always fit the bill. And I like any of those choices with Grant. I do think Wyatt works with Grant because I associate the name with the general/president, who was kind of a rough character. I get the same "tough as ails" vibe from both Grant and Wyatt. But I get not liking the name and wanting to find something that better suits your taste.
