Hiking backpack?

Has anyone used a hiking backpack with their LO? I'd mainly be using for light hiking and around town when walking the dogs. I saw a bunch of ads on Craigslist but would like suggestions from people I trust. One of the ads mentioned a rollbar for safety? TIA!!

Re: Hiking backpack?

  • I found the hiking backpacks like the Kelty to be uncomfortable and kinda unsafe. The LO is kinda propped up and the center of gravity is off and this makes LO top heavy. I always use my Kinderpack. It's a sturdier Ergo style backpack carrier that is more customizable and has a higher weight limit vs the Ergo

  • We have a Boba for light hiking and the biggest Kelty for serious hikes. I found both to be comfy. DH and I can both wear the Kelty which was a plus for us.

  • We have the Deuter Kid Comfort II. We tried it (and others) out at REI and then bought a very gently used one second hand off of CL. At this point, a back carry soft structured carrier doesn't do the trick for longer walks and hikes. The Deuter is really much more comfortable for everyone.
