Anyone do Infant Swim Self Rescue??

I'm looking into this because my dad decided Bird (LO) needed a swimming pool at our house ad it has sent me into a tailspin thinking about the what ifs of drowning, etc. I found this method of swim safety and looked at the video of the children (babies) that have been trained to do it but haven't gotten any real life opinions. The website is: https://www.infantswim.com/

Re: Anyone do Infant Swim Self Rescue??

  • Not yet, but I have heard it good things about it. We are in the process of moving and a lot of other stuff or I would prob sign us up for it. LO loves the pool and I spent every summer taking swim lessons so I will probably do the same with her.

  • I have contemplated it, but am waiting until LO is a little older.

  • If these lessons were in our budget we would definately do it.  But for now we'll stick with regular swim lessons.  I think it's a great idea though.

  • A family friend is currently in the training process to teach the lessons.  They can (and do!) save lives.
  • We just did regular parent and me style swim class and LO loved it. They showed us how to dunk him briefly underwater and come back up. Other then that we just floated around and sang songs etc.

  • I saw kids in person that had done these lessons.  The two/three year old was jumping off the diving board without a life jacket and was a better swimmer than most fish I've seen.  The 6 month old was floating and crying until the mom picked it up.  The (I'm going to guess) 11 month old was getting flipped upside down in the water and would flip herself over, float and alternate between floating and flipping herself back face first into the water swimming until she got to the steps in the pool.  It was absolutely incredible.  It is obviously quite a large investment, but you can't really invest too much money in your child's safety.  We don't have a pool in our back yard, but if we did (and if this was available in my area in Canada) I would definitely look into it.
