Toddler Girl Potty Question

I'm going to attempt to explain the problem....I'm having trouble with my LO "aiming" her pee inside the toilet.

She's grasped potty training, but when she potties, she often pees up and out of the toilet. How do I direct her to position herself so that she consistently pees inside the toilet? I've suggested having her lean slightly forward, but that doesn't always guarantee that the pees doesn't spray outside the toilet seat. I ran a web search, but didn't find any tips, so I'm hoping you parents may have a solution to this mechanical problem.

Any ideas or tips?

Thanks.

  • I'm having trouble with this....my DD (who will be 3 tomorrow) just sits on the toilet like she would on a chair.

Does she sit with her legs together?

  • Tried that once, but the pee pooled in her lap. Grrr.

  • Sit forward, legs open a little. If DD closes her legs while peeing, it ends up in her lap. Is your DD using a potty seat? Those can cause problems. My DD has less trouble when she sits on the actual seat

She was sitting on the actual seat, but establshed a fear of the actual seat all of a sudden :-( So we either use a potty seat on the toliet or a potty chair that sits on the floor.

  • would using one with a guard like for a boy help?

  • This happens when my DD sits too far forward and her legs are too close together. I have her sit farther back on the seat and lean slightly forward.

  • I have my DD sit back on the potty and lean forward a little, but she does occassionally get the "up and over" pee.

Try turning her around to face the tank. This may help keep her far back and if she can lean forward and grab the tank that'll tip her down. It's best w/out a kiddie seat, if she's willing.

Eta - this works for boys too.
