I'm not a visualization meditation person at all and still the course and method were very helpful to me in my two unmedicated births. In fact, Ive used the CDs and relaxation techniques for general relaxation in my life between pregnancies as well in the last four years.
I'm expecting out third in the next few weeks and have been brushing up in some of the materials in anticipation.
I was also considering looking in to hypnobirthing but I'm already 35 weeks along..is it possible to learn the method at this stage in my pregnancy? If so, what materials do you recommend? DD1 was a month early so I'm a little concerned DD2 will also be early..I guess I would need to find something I can learn relatively quick. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

In that case I would suggest signing up for the class as soon as possible if it's available to you and getting ahold of the book and CDs immediately.
Honestly, the first half or so of the book is just the history of the method which is (semi-)interesting but not necessarily applicable... So you could probably skim through until it gets to the relaxation techniques etc.
Start practicing the techniques that you like as well as the breathing techniques daily if you can, and listen to the meditation tracks as frequently as possible (at least one a day, and I personally recommend Rainbow Relaxation, but that's just me...)... 5 weeks (give or take a few weeks of course) should be plenty of time to get benefits from it!
I did hypnobabies with my first and loved the relaxed state I would get into with practicing but was overall not ideal for me to manage later stage of labor.
Cons 1. Eyes wide open hypnosis can be hard to get good at. So was hard for me to stay in hypnosis while moving or in upright positions more ideal for laboring 2. Was a conflict in my mind when I did feel pain but scripts telling me I'm only feeling pressure. I think the script would have been more effective to allow you to accept pain vs. There being no pain
Was more helpful in my second birth to use distraction tactics...music and playing games on my phone and movement and lastly the birth pool. Used no hypnosis with my second birth and much less discomfort/pain. I was also at home vs. The hospital which likely had a lot to do with it.
