Double stroller?

Does anyone know of a good double stroller? I was looking at the Britax double yesterday because I have the single and I absolutely love it. The double was pretty heavy though. It was also wide and I was thinking maybe I want one of those where they sit one in front of the other. But, I will need to look at the baby and I want my toddler to face the front so she can see out. Any ideas?

Re: Double stroller?

  • I'm on mobile and can't see tickers so I don't know how old your oldest is, but we are most likely doing a sit and stand since DS will almost be 4 when this one arrives and hasn't sat in a stroller in over a year.

If your toddler is younger I'd look at the City Select. My friend has one and its awesome!

I'm looking at the contours lt tandem double stroller. Has different options for the seats to be arranged, it's a front to back one.(compares to a city select version I think I saw, but less than half the price) My son is going to be 27 months when baby arrives and we still use the stroller all the time now. I also have an ergo that I wasn't able to use with my son (didn't get it till he was older and he hates it) that I plan to use with baby when I just want to use the single stroller.

  • We have a Graco one. It's just OK. Nothing really wrong with it but it pulls to the left and is pretty hard to steer.

  • I have the BJ city select. We bought it because of its potential to become a double. I love everything about this stroller! I know many mommas love their citi mini double too, I'm personally not a fan of the side by side strollers but that's obviously a personal choice as some love them!

  • I know some moms that have the BOB duallie (I think) and they reccomend it 1,000x over.  They are pretty pricey so I am looking on Craigslist at them. When it gets closer, I will go to BRU and test drive some before making a final decision.
  • Im considering the Britax BReady. Sometimes they go on mega sale on Amazon. But I will likely just have baby in the Beco and DD in our existing stroller.

  • Most friends with two kids hate hate the tandem strollers. Tops on my list right now is the BJ city mini gt.

  • DS will turn 3 a few months after this kid will be born, so I don't think we will need a true double stroller. We haven't used one for DS in almost a year at this point.

With that said, we plan on purchasing an attachment to our current stroller if DS decides he wants to hitch a ride (so similar to those sit and stand strollers that someone mentioned already).

  • Thanks for asking this question! Ds and this one will be 20 months apart so I will be looking for one, too. I want a really light weight one. I wish they made a double umbrella stroller. ..or maybe they do.

  • My DS will be 2 when this one is born. I already have a Sit 'n Stand for my son and niece so I'm just going to stick with that. I was thinking about a double umbrella stroller but I really don't the side by sides.

  • I have the city select and I LOOOOVE IT! You can have the car seat up top and the older kid facing out. There are so many different options for seating. I also love the bassinet. Im excited to get the skateboard attachment thingy so new baby and ds can sit and dd can ride standing :)

  • I've heard nothing but good things about Phil and Teds and there's a lot of options to choose from depending on how old your kids are.

  • We have a city mini gt and love it, but I'm not a huge fan of the side by side. Great to see the city select getting such high marks! We'll likely be selling the gt and getting that one.

  • I think I might skip the double stroller for now. I have a boba and plan to baby wear the baby and keep using the stroller for my son since there will only be 15 months between them. If I decide I need one later then I'll look at getting one then. I have eyeballed the sit and stand ones though. I just wish they made affordable tandem joggers. I love my jogging stroller that I have now!

  • We have the baby jogger city mini double and I love it.  It has a (purchase separately) adapter so you can add a base for holding an infant car seat when baby is little, then holds them both side by side as baby is bigger. The backs lay down separately so one can sleep almost flat while the other still sits up.  It folds really easily.  When we were shopping for a double, we looked at a ton of brands. A lot of the doubles you had to take the wheels off for folding. Annoying.  I also love that it fits through a standards door, so if I'm by myself, I open the door and back it in without looking like an idiot trying to open 2 doors by myself or waiting for help.  I also love that it has no tray or anything in front of the kids because my preschooler can climb in and out on his own, which really works well for us.  The only drawback to this stroller is the storage. It's hard to squeeze stuff underneath when kids aren't in it, it's almost impossible when they are.  We bought the dino strap on organizer for the back with cup holders and a zipper pocket. We also added a side sling bag and that has helped. Still, love more than I dislike about it!
  • I don't plan to buy one as of now, I rarely use the stroller as it is. I carried ds in my beco Gemini until he was about 1.5 so I plan to carry the new baby as long as I can as well, if I do it the same way ds will be almost 4 before the new baby will be in the stroller... So basically ill assess the situation later if & when I feel the need for a double stroller.

  • I actually jumped the gun a bought the BJ City Select last week.  I already have the Uppa baby and love it so so much, but hate the second seat addition.  You can't put a newborn in the regular seat until about 4 months and the second seat only works when you are using the seat and not a bassinet or carseat, so it's useless.  I don't want to demote my DD to that lower back seat.  It's so awful looking and uncomfortable.  It's really too bad.  But I was shopping and saw the BJ City Select on sale and the second seat came with it for free!!! OMG, so I bought it.  It's still in the boxes sitting in my storage until we need it.
