Multiples

Favorite maternity clothes?

I have a multitude of maternity wear for all seasons but most of them go only to a size medium. Obviously a medium isn't going to cut it in the late stages of a twin pregnancy.I'm already to the size I was at 20 weeks with my last baby. Yikes! I need to have at least one go to outfit that doesn't consist of PJ pants and my dh's t-shirt. Any advice on what worked or didn't work for you would be helpful. Thanks!

Re: Favorite maternity clothes?

  • When I had to go out toward the end, I wore XL black maternity leggings and a long wrap/cardigan (something that covered my butt :)

  • I'm live in one of two outfits:  maternity leggings from ON (full panel ones) and a tunic and/or longer shirt - anything that covers my rear basically.  Or, when I was working, I work maxi skirts/dresses...after 20 weeks or so it was all about comfort and looking like I was in anything other than pjs or a tent.

  • I second the maxi dresses, so comfy!! And I have managed to find a pair of jens I love from old navy and wear those with a large maternity shirt/sweater if I am going out. Thank god fall is around the corner so big sweaters doable!

  • I wore mostly maxi dresses and maxi skirts at the end.

  • I was all about the leggings as well. I loved shorts and the tank tops with ruching, made for a better fit.

  • Maxi dresses and short dresses paired with my standard yoga pants, because my belly turned those dresses into shirts long enough to not show any skin.

  • Pea in the pod had the most amazing tees. They were actually long enough to fully cover my belly. Plus, they were always on sale (thank god, that place is $$). Also, maxi skirt and dresses were great as I couldn't shave legs at the end. And, frankly, didn't care enough to figure is out.
  • I wore XXL sundresses from Target at the end. I had two that I alternated every other day. So easy and comfortable!

    I'm tall (6') and normally wear a size 6.

What a GREAT idea!!! Never would have thought of that!

Thanks ladies, so glad I asked this question here. I tried on a few XL maternity tops at the store and the neck opening on most hung down way to far. I'm so glad it is getting colder and I can find one or two button down sweaters to cover myself.
  • Maternity Yoga pants! Extra long maternity tshirts, cardigan style sweaters or sweatshirt zip ups, XL sports bras, a good pair of no-tie slip on flat shoes (points of they're extra wide) ... You're much more home bound at the end vs a singleton pg, so don't waste too much money on the largest sizes of anything but comfy clothes.

  • I ended up hating anything full panel because it started to get too snug.

  • I wore a maxi skirt from Target (Liz Lange) and maternity knit gaucho pants for the last 2 months of pregnancy.  Before that I wore leggings and dresses (like pp said).  But, towards the end I was so swollen that i didn't want anything tight touching my legs!

  • A long cotton maxi dress. If it was chilly I put a cardigan on over it. There was no way I could do pants at the end unless you count an old pair of extra large sweat pants.

  • Bought my first pair of leggings today thanks to this thread. My thighs have no business wearing these but they are fantabulous!!! Why didn't I buy them sooner!?!

  • I did a quick search on Target's clearance section and was excited to find all their short maxi dresses are under $12! Whoohooo! Perfect timing! Thanks everyone!
