Stopping progesterone

So my RE stopped my progesterone shots at 10 weeks cold and said I'm now officially with the OB. I asked my OB about it and she basically said ask your RE. I told her I was just on them as a precaution but she still urged me to ask. Now I'm kind of freaking out. I hear stories about people continuing to 12 weeks and some people tapering off slowly, is seems weird to just stop. How long were you on progesterone? Did you taper off slowly?

My OB switched me from PIO to crinone at 10 weeks, and I stopped all meds at 12 weeks. Around 10-12 wks, the placenta should be taking over progesterone production, so you'll be fine. I'd get your OB to just make a decision! Good luck!

My RE said stay until 12wks. I seen my obgyn just a fees days after being released and she said she wants me on it till 14wks. She said she knows how much time, effort and financial effort we put into getting here and is over cautious in making sure the placenta has plenty of time to be 100% functioning and taking over....so I am 11wk2day and counting down...ugh so ready to not have to wear constant panty liners!

I still have a bunch of progesterone suppository pills from a previous cycle. I might start taking...errr.... Using 200mg a day. I know it can't hurt.

At 10 weeks I started doing every other day until almost 12 weeks. That was mostly because I was freaked out about stopping PIO, not because it was medically necessary. You should be fine.

I think a lot of us have been nervous about stopping progesterone! I switched from PIO to crinone due to injection site reactions and then stopped all together at like 8 or 9 weeks which in comparison to others seems very early! Good luck!

With DS 1 they had me take prometrium until 12 weeks. They have since switched their protocal to 10 wks. Both times I have/will stop cold turkey.

I am not at that point yet my RE's plan is for me to stop cold turkey at 10 weeks. I have my first appt with an ob gyn that week so I plan on discussing with her because it also makes me nervous! As much as I am counting down for the shots to stop, I am also scared to let go of them!

I stopped cold turkey at 9 weeks and everything was fine!

I stopped pio at 8 weeks and stopped crinone at 12 weeks.

I stopped PIO at 8 weeks, switched to Endometrin for 2 weeks and stopped cold turkey.

I stopped at 10weeks cold. OB said that by that time your body will produce enough on its own. You can also ask your ob to draw blood nd make sure its over whatever your RE suggests. Gl

I stopped progesterone supps at 7 weeks cold turkey and didn't take any other kind of progesterone.

This makes me feel 100% better! Thanks ladies. Maybe I don't have to sneak extra progesterone on the side like a crack head after all.

I'm about 7wks now. RE told me to continue PIO for about 2 more weeks then switch over to the endometrin for 2 weeks.

I also stopped at 10 weeks and was pretty nervous. It's been over a week now and everything seems fine.

I'm 13 weeks, and am still on it!! My RE wants me on it still, but when I saw my OB Friday, she said to go ahead and get off of it!! She said the placenta started taking over at 8 weeks. I'm going ot finish out what I have, and do one more blood test, then I'm done!!! I HATE that stuff!!!!

I'm soooo ready to feel better!!! I have thrown up ever single night, with the exception of about 3 nights for the past month and a half!!!

I stopped today   A week after my RE usually stops but the panicked look on my face last week got them to extend it for a week just for my own peace of mind.  Good Luck!

I stopped crinone at 10 weeks cold turkey... and here I sit at 36 weeks!  Yikes!

I also was instructed to stop progesterone support (Endometrin for me) at 10 weeks cold turkey.  I had a few extra pills at 10 weeks, so I used the rest of the box, but didn't have any problems stopping.

I stopped the PIO cold at 10 weeks.

My RE wanted me to stop the prometrium at 8.5 weeks.  Since I had just refilled my rx, I took what I had left so quit at 10.5 weeks (the last week I did 1 everyday instead of the 2 daily I'd been doing).  No spotting and no issues, but I was so nervous!
