NWMR new house, very small master

We are in escrow on a new house. I love absolutely everything except the master bedroom. It is really small. It has a decent closet, but it is not walk in.

Our last house had a great master so we have a good amount of furniture that I doubt will all fit. We have a queen bed, tall dresser, a longer dresser with mirror and 2 end tables.

Please give me some decorating ideas or tips for storage since we may not even be able to fit either dresser now

This is not our furniture but our bed is similar

Re: NWMR new house, very small master

  • Our master is small. We pushed the bed against the wall like in your pic. We could then fit a dresser and a nightstand. Our nightstand has drawers where I keep my socks and underwear. I also redid the closets and got a system with drawers, shelves and 2 rods (one on top and one on bottom). We ended up getting a lower profile bed that doesn't have a box spring. It takes up same floor space but the room feels bigger now that its lower and we can see more of the room.

Maybe get a bed with drawers at the bottom. Ikea is good with decorating for small spaces.you can also decorate one wall with those tiled mirrors. That makes a room look larger. https://housearquitectura.com/cleanly-small-bedroom-storage-decorations-firmones/

Lol...the rooms in those pictures are hardly what I'd consider "small." The first one I thought was quite spacious!

  • No real suggestions for furniture placement, but I would go get your closet done.  You'd be amazed at what you can fit if you don't have just a single bar and shelf!  I'm a fan of elfa from the Container Store because you can rearrange if if you need to in the future, or even take it with you if you've moved (I've moved into 3 different apartments before getting into our first home and had pieces move from each place and re-done in the new ones).

Sorry for what looks like a plug for a product, I just love how much more I got in my closet!
