dr's shouldnt be allowed to say you could go early

because every day closer makes you crazy ....!!!!! Anyone elses dr tell them this ? Gives false hope and dillusions of water breakage and what not. ok mini rant over.

I agree!! It's like don't patronize me jerk! I know they're trying to be positive and honestly we could, but it makes you more on edge than you already are!! At my last appt on Monday my doctor was like, "you're still at a 1 and 75%, but these things can change in a day" 39 w yesterday and I had contractions alllllll day that got closer together and more intense ending at about 6 minutes apart so I thought, "yaaay this might be it!!" After a long day of that it fizzled at 11:30-- COOL! Not.

None of the doctors in my practice have ever talked about when the baby will come. They have just about as good of an idea when your child will be born as we do. I think it's bad form for doctors to do that.

Mine says the opposite. I figure that's ok, he doesn't get my hopes up!

@SweetPeaK26 It's better that way! Mine never says oh, you won't be back next week or it could be any day now! But the, "things could change at any time, I've seen it happen" which I know is true but makes me bananas!!

I saw one doctor in the practice who said I might not make it to my due date, which then frustrated me when nothing happened. Another doctor told me I would likely still be pregnant at my next appointment (40 weeks) and that made me upset too. There was no pleasing me.

None of the doctors in my practice have said anything like that. When I have had cervical checks they just say any progress is good.

My doctor always asks when I feel like LO will make her debut.

My midwife hasn't given me an estimate at all other than "most commonly, babies are born between 39-41 weeks" which I would have figured on my own. She did say they rarely have to induce though, which is reassuring, when I was asking her about how late they'll let me go.

My Dr told me there's no way I will make it to my due date. I'm sure hoping he's right!

My ob said "any day now" and "see you next week" in the same appointment. I think he's just being friendly so I don't take it to heart.

Should mention I'm only 38wks 3 days.

My dr has said it's possible since I was 37 weeks. I'm 39 weeks today now and every day feels like a year knowing I could go at any time!!

Ditto! Mine has said for 2 weeks now "I doubt you will make it to next weeks appt" TWO weeks they have said this....I am almost 42 weeks COME ON BABY!!

My doctor has been saying "See you next week if I don't see you in L&D first!" for the last few weeks. I don't read into it or anything. She probably says it to all the full-term ladies, but I can see how it would be annoying or create false hope to some.

As my dr was handing me my paper to take back out to schedule my next appt she says "well I REALLY doubt you'll need this, but here you go". I was 4cm and 80% so it seemed plausible. That was last Monday.. I'm thinking I'll make it to my next appt afterall.

Yeah, this one seems pretty reasonable.
