Pillows from home?

So I keep seeing pillows being an item on the list for the hospital. I am a little weird when it comes to my pillows on my bed. I don't think I would want to take my fluffy fabric pillows to the hospital and then bring them home and out them back on my bed. It is a strange germ thing and probably my only big germs phobe gang up. But I know how often pillows hit the floor in hospitals and bringing that home with me is yuck! Maybe I will pull some from the guest room that I am ready to replace, still sufficient but not 50-60 dollar pillows that are new... Then I can leave them or donate them to a charitable organization.

If you do bring a pillow (I did- love my pillow!!) make sure to put it in a non-white case so the hospital does not take it.

Well - you're talking to someone who's had 4 of her own pillows in the hospital for 5 weeks now. I'm super picky about pillows and even more so now. I could understand not wanting to mess with it do to the clutter factor of only being there a few days - but I just plan on washing mine as soon as I get home... They sanitize the heck out of my room every single day and every nurse and doc washes in and out... So I'm ok with the germ factor. Good luck!

I am feeling the same way about this..glad I'm not the only one. With DD I didn't bring my own pillow but never thought of it so this time I'm still not sure either.

Having your own pillow just makes the hospital room more comfortable/cozy. I'm weird about my pillows too so I took a guest room pillow. Take something. It's better than the plastic flat ones the hospital provides.

I needed my pillow.
I have trouble sleeping anywhere that isn't my bedroom so I stole one of my 6 pillows. I put a really obnoxious rainbow pillow case on it so we all knew it was mine.

I needed my pillow too. If you have issues with pillows just get a cheap one from costco. I needed two other pillows. What they provided was not nearly enough.

FTM and thus far I've only spent a grand total of ~12 hrs in L&D but from what I experienced, those pillows are AWFUL. Not only do they smell like hospital but they're tiny and lumpy. Even if I just pick up a couple cheap $4 Target pillows to use for L&D and some cheap cases for them so I don't ruin my nice ones, I feel like that would be a way better option and worth $20.

The two nights I spent in observation I would have given anything for my pillows. Their pillows are so awful.

I plan to put a bright color cover on mine, over another cover, and wash the heck out of both covers when I get home.

I brought a pillow that I didn't care about and got rid of it when we got back home.   I plan on getting a cheap one from Target for this time around.  I really like the pillow I'm using here at home and don't want to bring that one to the hospital

Thank you, I will probably swipe older ones off the guest bed, but may go ahead at put pillow protectors on them and bright pillow cases so I know where they came from. Then wash everything when we get home and not worry about it or pick up some inexpensive ones that I don't care what happens to them.
