Success after IF

OCPs help

So after two failed FETs, we are back to hoping things work the good ol' fashioned way.  DH did his SA yesterday but this lab takes up to a week for results, so we are in limbo.  It has been 23 days since I started bleeding after the FET (stopping PIO).  I've had pretty consistent spotting and negative OPKs, so my body is still trying to figure out what's going on.  I'm seeing a new RE on Oct 8th (in 26 days) and my OBGYN gave me an Rx for OCPs in the meantime to stop the bleeding and try to regulate my cycle.  BTW, I've never had a problem with my cycle before, but DH was diagnosed with severe MFI early in the process.  Anyway, with 26 days to go, I don't want to screw it up!  I'd hate to meet with her and have her say "oh, you are on day X?  I wish I'd seen you 2 days ago, we'll have to wait a cycle!"  When should I start the OCPs?  I'd like to time it so I'm either on day 1 or waiting for day 1 when I meet with her.  These are 21 days of active pills (Apri), so should I play it safe and wait until 21 days before or go ahead since it may take a few days to see bleeding?  It's been 6 years since I took OCPs and I can't remember how many days after stopping the active pills that I'd have bleeding.

TIA!!!

Re: OCPs help

  • I would call and ask what they new clinic prefers, and then start taking your pills whenever they advise, also the first sugar pill you take is day one, weather you bleed or not when your on BC, and you may or may not have a bleed, and you may or may not have a bleed during active pills, While your body readjusts it could be wonky. Just find out what day they like to see you on and start your pills accordingly. Mine always like to see me on day 3 for blood drawn and ultrasounds and then ALWAYS waits that out for the next cycle before beginning any thing! So I like to time my first appointments with CD3.
    Good Luck!

Started TTC in 2006, LOTS of trying, and trying, and 7 rounds of IVF with 13 embryos, 2 perfect little boys and 5 loses....
All finished with babies, started to make diet changes, Keto, to be MORE for my kids, lost 30 pounds, still going, and 3 months in, I had a natural cycle, and then ovulated... Hubs and I are going to see what happens now... Maybe a natural pregnancy? After everything we have been through? Or just a return to normal hormones? We shall see what the future holds!

  • Thanks....it's a military thing, just one RE, no office, so I can't call :(  I asked the OBGYN and she said "either way" but I just don't want to get there and regret starting these a few days off.  I think I am going to wait to start so that I'll be on day 22 and starting the placebos when I get there.
